I really like your note about putting mothers on a pedestal. I realize that while I was reading I never questioned the absence of fathers but was really judgmental on Moon and on Adam’s mom.
I think it depends on our relationship to the person leaning on us. We might owe it to our inner circle to keep showing up for them, while someone who only shows up when they seek support may not require us to exert that same energy.
