Opinions: A Decade of Arguments, Criticism, and Minding Other People’s Business is now out in the world. This is my seventh book or tenth book depending on how you count them and it remains as exciting and terrifying as ever. I will be on tour in several cities and hope you can attend one of these events.
Thank you to all of you who have been and are being so supportive of this book and all my work. Whether you buy the book or check it out from your library, shout it out on social media, recommend it to a friend, all of it helps. It means so very much and never goes unnoticed or unappreciated. I am particularly grateful for all the independent booksellers who work so hard to put great books in the hands of readers.
While we’re talking about booksellers, I want to shout out the unionized booksellers at Half Price Books in Minnesota. The staff has been on strike since mid-July and who have been trying to get their employer to pay them a fair wage for a year and a half. It’s always surprising when business owners with progressive values don’t live them out, particularly in the book business but I do hope the store’s owner come to the bargaining table with a genuine, fair offer that allows all of the employees at Half Price Books to earn a living wage. Until then, solidarity with those amazing booksellers who are holding the line at great personal and professional cost.
And while I have you, this is also publication week for Family Meal by Bryan Washington. It is brilliant and here is my review on Goodreads.
Tonight, I will be at one of my favorite book venues in the world, 6th and I, in Washington D.C. I hope you can make it if you are in the area.
