Home and not home

I was lucky enough to have a four day spell at home in Los Angeles. I love flying west because it always feels like you’re stretching time. I left Texas around 11 in the morning and landed in Los Angeles around noon despite flying for nearly three hours. It’s magic. And then I had a whole luxurious day at my disposal and no event that night. I did what any reasonable person would do and went to my favorite coffee shop, a small mom & pop place called Starbucks, where I got a mocha latte with an extra shot of espresso and some vanilla. Yes, I am basic in this specific way and it’s fine. Sometimes, you just want to drive through and chat briefly with a nice young barista and be on your way.
