How do I participate in the Audacious Book Club?
Our book club is pretty informal and its easy to join in on our conversations. Everything happens via this newsletter. Each month, we announce our selection and throughout the month, we post discussion prompts that we warmly encourage you to participate in via the comments.
Does it cost anything to participate in the book club?
The book club is open to anyone who subscribes to this newsletter, whether it is a free or a paid subscription. We always appreciate those who partake of a paid subscription because it helps support the various costs of running this modest enterprise.
Do we get to chat with the authors?
Yes! Toward the end of each month, we have a live conversation, via Zoom, with the author of the month. There are opportunities both before the live conversation and during to ask questions. All of our previous conversations have been archived and are available via my YouTube channel. We also have ASL interpreters for every live conversation and if there’s anything we can do to make the conversation more accessible for you, just let us know.
Where can I buy the book club selections?
We’re big believers in local, independent bookstores but buy your books wherever the spirit moves you. If you prefer to read e-books, please do so, and of course, libraries are a fundamental thread in the fabric of our communities. Authors benefit no matter how you read their books.
Here are a small selection of our favorite indie bookstores:
Mahogany Books
Loyalty Books
The Lit Bar
BookPeople
Women and Children First
Book Soup

What if I have other questions about the book club?
Ask them in the comments and happy reading!
I love the book club and honestly it's super generous that you offer it.
Re bookclub, id like to make a pitch for my local bookstore, Baldwin & Co in New Orleans. The owner, DJ Johnson has a vibrant selection of BIPOC authors and many have come to nola on their book tours and have been met with audiences in the 1000s. It’s a happening place with a huge mission that Nola loves!
