Re bookclub, id like to make a pitch for my local bookstore, Baldwin & Co in New Orleans. The owner, DJ Johnson has a vibrant selection of BIPOC authors and many have come to nola on their book tours and have been met with audiences in the 1000s. It’s a happening place with a huge mission that Nola loves!
I like this challenge. The first book is something I would automatically not want to read (retellings have become synonymous with remakes to me and I'm sick of the latter). This book club takes me out of my comfort zone--good for growth :)
I love The Audacity! The combination of great books, great discussions, and great prompts is unbeatable. I am SO excited about the 2025 book selection!
I love the Audacious Book Club. Each month is almost always a book I didn't know about before and thus wouldn't have read on my own. I also appreciate these early heads up because then I can get on the hold list at my library. Thank you for running this!
I didn’t read every 2024 book club pick but I LOVED every single one that I did read. Looking forward to adding these to my list and joining the discussions.
Just ordered the January book from my favorite of the local Detroit bookshops. Www.27thletterbooks.com Check them out if you are in the city, or want to order online through an indie bookstore
I just found out about a new, dynamic, woman-owned bookstore in Winchester, MA: Book Ends. Sounds fabulous. Discovered while on Bookshop.org...a great way to order online, avoid Amazon, and support local bookstores. Looking forward to participating in your book club next year!
We haven’t had this month’s discussion yet and he won’t be attending. It’s on the 17th if you would like to join. Registration link is in the weekly roundup.
Would it be possible to get a list of the links to the conversations we've had with authors in the past year, to find any we may have missed? Love the book club!
I love the book club and honestly it's super generous that you offer it.

Fellow New Orleanian here and I second this! Another great New Orleans black owned indie shop is Tubby & Coos!

Follow-up (new to this stack), can people nominate books for next year or August?

What a spectacularly exciting list of books!

The list is hyperlinked in this very post.
Whoops! Hard to excel in book club when one cannot read for comprehension. Thank you!
I'd love to recommend one other independent Austin based book shop.
