Brilliant. Every bit of this experience resonated with me. I am excited to see what the author does next. I want it to be a bestseller and a movie and a manual for therapists who are bewildered by Desis.
How can something sparkle and shine and be so painfully beautiful that rips open old wounds you didn’t even remember you had? How can it make you cackle and giggle and smile in recognition and pull a punch that is also, somehow a salve. Thank you for this bitter mango.
This is a perfect essay. The structure of a questionnaire grabs us immediately because, who can resist ticking off a box and hoping it's the correct answer? We dive in. Suresh, the ingeniousness of your "Examination" lies in how quickly we begin to wear your shoes. Each agonizing and stressful block of multiple choices makes clear the unrelenting questions in your brain – in so many brains. The navigation of your world can be felt here in all its exhausting and heart wrenching reality. I am incredibly grateful you shared it with us. It will be my answer to those who say, "Why does it always have to be about race?"
So heartbreakingly beautiful. So many relatable things here with the desi/brown experience...loved the structure too. Can’t wait to read more of Kaushika Suresh’s keen and observant writing.
Wow. So moved reading this.
Creative - educational and embarrassing!
We have a long way to go with people.
Brilliant. Thank you. I relate to all of this.

Spectacular. Love the creativity with form which adds so much punch, so much sadness, so much clarity to the hidden meanings being revealed.
