Attica Locke has been one of my absolute favorite recent discoveries! Yay for paperback & new book releases! I’ve been really enjoying Leigh Bardugo’s books - Ninth House & Hell Bent were *a ride*!

I loved the novel Orbital by Samantha Harvey. No real plot here, but the observations/ruminations of six astronauts and cosmonauts about time, existence, and the nature of the universe as they orbit the earth. It's a short read. I also really liked the memoir How to Say Babylon by Safyia Sinclair. Poetic, daring, thought-provoking. I have the audio version (does that count as reading?) where Sinclair reads her work--I could listen to her voice forever.

Thanks so much for the reading recommendation. Reading has been really difficult to get into post-election for me. I've requested Attica Locke's books at the public library.

I’m reading Quartet in Autumn because after I read Women’s Hotel, I looked on Daniel Lavery’s Instagram and he listed Quartet in Autumn as one of the books that influenced his writing of Women’s Hotel. I’m nearly finished, and I’m mostly enjoying it and can definitely see the connection in terms of the internal dialogue common to both. But Quartet is kinda depressing. Humorous too, but I’ll be glad to get out of the heads of those four people.

Earlier this year, I read Dearest by Jacquie Waters, it's psychological horror/thriller, and I've been chasing the high that book gave me ever since. Every bit of fiction I've read recently hasn't come close to the feelings Dearest gave me. Highly recommend if you're into psychological/body horror about being postpartum with a feminist bent.
